Opening hours

For your convenience our clinic is open every day of the year (other than Christmas Day and Good Friday). A vet is available for emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year which ensures that our much loved furry clients are always well looked after! Clinic hours for consultation by appointment on 547 7891 are:

Monday to Friday	8am to 7pm
Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays	10am to 4pm

(except Christmas Day and Good Friday) An on call after hours veterinarian is available at all other times by dialling 547 7891 (an after hours fee does apply).

History

Peter and Noeline Inglis initially started work in Nelson with Peter Malone in the late 1970's serving large and small animals from Springs Junction to French Pass! Those early days of long hours, huge distances and lots of emergencies gradually improved as more vets moved into the area. The establishment of a clinic in Murchison particularly reduced travel times. With the retirement of Peter Malone, Noeline and Peter started their own practice with Andrew Conway. The Stoke clinic was initially a small shed on the present site which had previously been a used car lot and garden centre. As the companion animal side of the practice grew a new building was built. Noeline eventually left large animal work in Richmond and joined Peter at Stoke to concentrate solely on small animals. The building eventually required extension in 1999 to allow for both an increase in the amount and sophistication of work performed. Callum became a director of the practice in 2008 and Noeline left the practice permanently in 2010 after an absence since late 2009. The clinic today is purpose built to offer a full range of medical and surgical services. The highest level of care is provided to all our patients by a dedicated and increasingly highly trained veterinary and nursing team.

Reception

Dog Waiting Area There's rarely a quiet moment in the reception area at Stoke Veterinary Clinic, it's the hub of our busy clinic. Our trained receptionists and nurses never seem to stop but are always ready to help you with whatever your pet may require. We have an extremely well appointed range of food, grooming equipment, shampoos, collars, leads, beds - the works. If you can't find it there already then we're happy to order it in for you!

Reception The waiting area is spacious and provides two seating areas so our feline and canine friends don't need to sit too close. Our aim is to make you and your pet feel at home so feel free to come in, even if it's just for a social visit or weigh in.

Consulting

We have two comfortable, fully equipped and computerised consulting rooms. This is where our first contact occurs with you and your pet so we want you both to feel at home. The initial examination and consultation will take place here. If more detailed tests or treatment are required then we may admit your pet to our hospital.

Cat Hospital

The cat hospital houses up to 18 cats at a time and is completely separate from the dog hospital. The cat hospital is kept meticulously clean, climate controlled and well ventilated to ensure your pets comfort. All cats are regularly assessed and monitored during their stay. Cats are complex and special patients - we are well equipped and trained to meet all their medical needs.

Dog hospital

The Dog hospital can house up to 12 dogs at a time. Four outdoor runs are also available to allow our canine friends to stretch their legs and exercise their vocal cords. The dog hospital is also climate controlled and well ventilated to ensure canine comfort. All dogs are regularly monitored and assessed during their stay and if appropriate, regular toilet breaks are provided outside by our nursing staff.

Isolation

We have a dedicated isolation facility entirely separate from the main body of the clinic which allows us to treat contagious patients without placing our other patients at risk. Strict isolation protocols are enforced in this area with a single dedicated nurse available to these patients to ensure all our patients safety.
